The Great Masterpiece

I Believe that the Glorious Power

Of the Supreme Deity

Once Painted all of Creation.

In this Great Masterpiece

The Universal Artist

Gave to Us a Part of His Self.

Precious as Water to the Sailor

And Sun is to Life

A Man’s Mind

Is His Own Peace. Registered & Protected

Completely beautiful! You have a richness of heart and mind that is absolutely refreshing.

      Hello Cher –

This poem is the only piece of writing I had saved from when I was young guy. I wrote this about age 20-21 and was having issues with my dad. Nothing like the one’s you mention in your recent blog. We just butted heads and he didn’t understand much about me other than my love for playing sports. There’s a lot more to me than that. The first person who read this poem back then, was an elementary school principal, a stepmother to my buddy. She gave me an impressive compliment and I remember to this day. Thank you for your kind words and for reading me.

I know why you sent me here..thank you..

      Hey Alpana –

It’s true, right? It’s a good one to read from time to time. Reminders are necessary for me in my life. Becoming side-tracked happens to all of us and knowing what to do when we go off tangent, helps out a lot. Thank you for reading me and for commenting. πŸ™‚

      Hi Melissa –

I agree with you so much on the simple words holding strong value. All of creation is God’s masterpiece, including you and me although I’d like to think I am a work in progress. Just missing some colorful paint here. So glad you love my poem. πŸ™‚

I love your last lines A mans mind… his own peace. I would add …or sometimes not. It brings to mind Milton’s Paradise Lost.
β€œThe mind is its own place, and in it self
Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.”

    • #18 by charlie nitric on July 5, 2011 - 10:16 pm

      Hi Mary –

Oh nooo please don’t change my poem. I like the last line as well. πŸ™‚

There is nothing as necessary as peace. Very nice, Brian.

    • #20 by charlie nitric on July 5, 2011 - 9:34 pm

      Hello Adriene –

No doubts about that statement at all. Unrest is the root of many human issues. When our minds are troubled…wowow…we are certainly in need of higher assistance. Serenity can be realized when we seek it. Thank you for your kind words. πŸ™‚

Interesting to hear that you wrote this when you were 20-21 and having issues with your father. At that age, I also wrote poetry especially since it can be a great outlet for our emotions and frustrations.

      Hi Penelope –

I kept this poem in my wallet for so many years, folded up on a small piece of paper. A couple of years ago I unfolded, read it, and saved it in MS Word. I’ve lost it a few times do to computer crashes but have always remembered these simple words I wrote so long ago. Thank you. πŸ™‚

      Hi Hajra –

Well there is nothing better than hearing my fellow bloggers/writers say complimentary words about my writing. It means a lot to me so thank you for that. πŸ™‚

      HI Corinne –

I wrote this poem many years ago when I was about 20-21 years old. I kept it in my wallet for the longest time and would look at it often. I remembered it and rewrote it down for you all to read. I’m very glad you like it also. πŸ™‚
