The Lighthouse

Seconds…

My spirited moods

Lift me up like a wandering buoy

Happiness?

Minutes…

A nomad in vast seas

Vaulting me upwards with mighty thrusts

Glory?

Days…

Sucking me conversely with the hitch

Of her forceful swell in another moment

Sadness?

Weeks…

And an ongoing process persists

On a course undetermined

Change?

Months…

I am the marker without destination

Wafting and bobbing to life forces

Quest?

Years…

Gusting and thrusting

In search of my lighthouse

Journey?

Decades…

Adrift is the float

On the wide open seas

Lifetime!

the expression of transforming seconds to minutes, minutes to days, days to weeks, weeks to months, months to years and years to decade to express lifetime is unique.

      Hello Sancheeta –

These are just some thoughts and feelings of mine on a beautiful Sunday morning in Chicago….blue skies, warm weather, and I have much to do today and not enough time to do it all. Thank you for reading me and for commenting. 🙂

Wonderful Charlie,as I mentioned yesterday,I love this other Charlie also..the sensitive one…You really write well.Everyone is searching for their own sail and rudder, but at the end of the day…Do what you can, with what you have, where you are….Keep going.

      Hello Alpana –

People are lots of different things all wrapped up into one amazing package. Some just show more aspects of our selves than others. Regardless, every person consists of many experiences, feelings, insights, views, and perspectives. Our personalities adapt, develop, grow, and change through the course of time. Thank you for reading me and for commenting. 🙂

I loved it Charlie! Especially the Minutes…. a nomad in vast seas, vaulting me upwards with mighty thrusts. It reminds me of our lives. We are like a bat in an ocean, bobbing up and thrust, sometimes sinking, sometimes being thrust upwards. This is new you Charlie, and I like person 🙂

      Hello Rimly –

Oh I’m really glad that you love it because it is about my life. The highs and lows, and how each moment strings together to create many moments of the same for a lifetime. An endless cycle of bobbing around in an endless sea of life. Thank you for reading me and for commenting. 🙂

Wonderful poem and I liked the analogy of life and the sea. There is something about the sea that just calls to us. Perhaps that is because we are so much alike.

      Hello Cher –

I think people are much like a ship at sea, or another object floating in the vast spectacle, a buoy. The seas do call us to our hearts. Thank you for reading me and for commenting. 🙂

This is good work, Charlie. Good work.
I am writing it down, credit to you of course,
for my own musings by the water – no computer comes down there.
Are you a country music fan? Yes or no, check out “The River” by Garth Brooks.
I have used it as part of group work and personal use.
It is excellent – right up there with your poem.

    Patricia
P.S. I don’t understand the link to ‘Lifetime’at the end of your poem.

      Hey Pat –

Sure I enjoy country music, especially the old country western music from the 70s & 80s. I know that Garth Brooks song and really like it a lot. Limetime refers to this process carrying on until one dies. Thank you for commenting :).

The ‘old’ songs from the ’70’s – ’80’s???
      Old???

Read your poem and then listen to “The River” – fabulous combination.

        Hi Pat –

I like the idea of me and Garth teaming up. Sounds very cool to me :).

Is it ok that I write your poem down, for my own musings?
I am sorry, I should have asked first.

Please let me know. I do not want a copyright problem.

    Thank you, Charlie.

Oh, is ‘Lifetime’ the last line of the poem? (Just read it again)

And some how it has linked to Lifetime, the TV channel?

    Patricia

      Hi Pat –

I’m not sure why it links to the Limetime TV channel lol?!

    • #21 by Patricia Blomeley-Maddigan on December 9, 2011 - 2:28 pm

Maybe if you deleted what’s there, then key the word Lifetime in again – might delete the link.
